Smarteq is closely following up the latest and current events taking place in Asia, the hub of our manufacturing facilities, where we can see instability in the supply of critical raw materials and components for our products, the restrictions implemented and to be implemented in the mobility of the working force from and to Taiwan due to the pandemic and the limited and decreasing availability of freight slots from Asia to Europé.

The immediate consequence of these events is not only a considerable impact on our cost structure and in the stability of our offer in the coming periods but also current lead times (12-14 weeks) will be longer if lockdowns withstand during the summer.

Smarteq has set an action path already on execution to mitigate and manage the impact of these unforeseeable circumstances, and to extend our support to our distributors and customers during these challenging times ahead of us:

  • Smarteq has increased our buffer stock for additional parts of the high-runners, frame ordered, and forecasted parts, even without committed orders.
  • However, it is highly recommendable to review the demand with your customer and end-user, and if possible, establish a forecast for the coming 6-12 months, and place orders accordingly for minimizing the risk of an empty stock or air freight at unmanageable higher costs.
  • Smarteq will review and adjust our cost structure to mitigate the impact in the prices to come, which will have to be adjusted during the coming weeks. As mentioned, higher MOQs and 6-12 months forecasting give a much wider spectrum aiming for less sensitive adjustments.
  • Already this week Smarteq planned relocation of production for non-critical parts and other components to production facilities located in less affected areas. This measure will have a positive impact on our supply chain hopefully by Q3.
  • Smarteq strongly recommends its dear partners and customers to inform your customers and end-users on these conjunction circumstances and the coming impact on the costs and delivery times.
  • By the end of Q1 Smarteq started the evaluation of establishing a manufacturing unit in Europe, as a long-term strategic response to the challenges that arose during the past year.

Please get in touch with your Smarteq contact to go through this information and to answer any question or comment you may have on this or any other matter we can support you with.

Smarteq wins order from Italian Enel worth SEK 7 million

Smarteq Wireless AB, which is part of the Allgon group, announces that it has won an order from the Italian energy company Enel worth over SEK 7 million during the next two years.

Enel is one of Europe’s largest energy companies. Smarteq will deliver 169 MHz antennas for concentrator stations, that collect data from “smart” electricity meters, to Enel e-distribuzione. Smarteq will start deliveries during the first quarter of 2020.

– The order is a result of our team’s long-term work as an antenna partner to the leading players in the energy sector, and to expand our operations in Italy and Europe. We have a long and extensive experience in developing and supplying antennas to smart electricity meters since the first volume rollouts of radio-based smart electricity meters in Sweden commenced around 2005. Today we have a leading position of antennas for this segment. Our product met Enel’s needs and is another acknowledgment of our ability to deliver. With this order we are taking the next steps towards   developing our business in both the Italian market and the rest of Europe, says Smarteq’s CEO Yasemin Heper Mårtensson.

Smarteq is a leading supplier and antenna partner to companies operating in energy infrastructure, vehicles and industry. Last year, Smarteq delivered over one million antennas to customers in 43 countries.

Smarteq launches a new antenna family!

To meet the increasing demand for antennas supporting the 868/915 MHz band with different applications, like LORA, NB IoT, Wireless M-BUS, Sigfox etc, Smarteq is now introducing a new antenna family for LPWAN. The family includes 3 different omni radiating antennas with gains, 3 dBi, 5 dBi, and 8 dBi.

This makes them very useful as concentrator antennas and/or just high gain antennas.

You can read more about the antenna family here.

The antennas are available for purchase at any Smarteq distributor.

Smarteq launches a unique antenna for RF 444 MHz and Wireless M-Bus

Smarteq has in record time developed a new, most likely unique antenna for the Swedish utility Jämtkraft.

“This antenna is a joint venture between Jämtkraft and Smarteq for collecting multi data from electricity- and water meters. The new single antenna design is more visibly appealing and cost efficient” says Morgan Gimbergsson at Jämtkraft.

This combination antenna has specificially been designed for connecting water meters by Wireless M-Bus to smart electricity meters, which in turn connects to a concentrator by RF Mesh 444 MHz. The concentration hub thereafter, connects to the central server via GSM/LTE.

The LP4487 is available for purchase at any Smarteq distributor.
